This is a bug level. See what happens if you throw the frost gun at the red button after it has been pressed. My other bug levels are Using and Defying Newton's Laws, Using an Invisible Force, and Unconventional Uses for Rage-Bots.

I remember seeing this bug before , the professor had a crate instead of a barrel, but the same results as the crate regenerated and left the invisable unknown object. A few months before PFMM was released the PF forum was shut down and all documented bugs were lost. About the only way to find these again would be to do all PF downloads (and there alts) or find someone that remembered the "bug" level names.

As for the professor running on top of a bots head (as in "up in the air").
It was not considered a bug and there were many levels and alternates using this technique early on.
It was so popular that it was refered to as 'Cowboy' (perhaps it was part of the name of the 1st level that used it). One such level is "Cowboy x5" by Jadon7

Alternate: (without using bug):
1 crate not needed

Go up ladder to the 2nd level & left a few steps (fast to keep Bot below)-
Drop barrel & push left (stops on yellow button)-
Quickly up ladder getting crates, dropping a crate over the edge & jumping on it-
(if your quick enough the Bot will fall on the professors head)
Jump right, go up ladder & thru yellow gate-
Drop a crate on Bot, continue up to whistle-
Use whistle & finish-

(Your solution also didn't need the one crate)

I wonder what made the forums shut down. I already knew that people had made levels about the up in the air theme, but I wanted to reintroduce the concept. Somebody has already discovered the bug in Using and Defying Newton's Laws, right? People seem to have discovered everything already.

I fixed the alt.

I think most/all bugs have been found by now.

After some investigating for the bug in "Using & defying Newtons law" see the following:

"Unsolvable?" (filename: arrgh ) :

http://grubbygamesfiles.com/pf_levels/level.php?id=298

"Not Really A Level" (Professor in a box) (filename: anotherbug ) :

http://grubbygamesfiles.com/pf_levels/level.php?id=249

One problem with finding these levels is many authors used level names that didn't match the one in the level itself, and filenames that didn't relate either!

Nice, but I would have only rated it as "regular" because once you become aware of the existence of this bug finding the solution gets pretty easy.
Interesting these bugs, I don't know yet if I am annoyed or just amused by their existence but I guess it's the second. Not the same thing could say about making the game crash (freeze), which I have managed to do with only a pulley, a magnet and a gate after working at a level for about 7 or 8 hours. Yes, I can repair the level, but only by flipping it entirely around a vertical axis which requires another hour or so (it's quite "populated").
Does such an abnormal behavior also qualify as a bug? I think I will post a level in order to document it too.

Yes, abnormal behavior does qualify as a bug. Usually anything that happens that isn't supposed to happen is a bug. There are a few exceptions, though.
